D1 Random Cave Encounters
- A group of 1d4+2 kobolds (1d4+1 worgs) led by a shaman wearing a wolf skull as a helmet come racing down the corridor toward the party. The shaman casts a spell turning himself into a giant wolf (huge giant wolf) and attacks.
- Cold water slowly drips from the ceiling, landing on your neck.
- Players find a small group of 2d6 bandits who have made camp in the cavern. If the players approach, the bandits will attack.
- The players encounter a human wizard named Castor who is looking for some rare mushrooms to complete a potion he's making to ease his arthritic joints. He can be convinced to join the party if the players offer him some gold or gems or promise to bring him some rare mushrooms later on in the quest.
- The party hears a loud crashing sound coming from a nearby corridor. If they investigate, they will see a large stone golem smashing through a wall and running away into another corridor.
- A group of 2d6+3 goblins attack the players. They are led by the goblin warrior, Gutwrench the Gut Hatcher. He is a level three goblin warrior that carries a polearm and wears a helmet that looks like a giant skull. He is not as dangerous as he sounds.
- The party hears lots of laughing. If they investigate, they will find a group of hobgoblins gambling. They are drunk and have been playing a game of dice that they have been betting with. They have been playing all night.
- The players see a group of tiny people fighting a giant rat nearby.
- A group of goblins sitting around a campfire singing songs about how much they hate their leader, Grod the Mighty, and how he treats them like slaves and how they'd love to rise up against him and get rid of him but they're too afraid of him to do it...
- Players come across a group of merchants that have set up a small camp in the cave. They will sell players any items they are in need of, but will not buy anything.
